Technology for Health and Social Challenges
Technology for Health and Social Challenges is a project-based course aimed at Master’s degree students in Biomedical Engineering, Management Engineering, and Automation Engineering organized in collaboration with Fondazione Triulza.
During the semester, interdisciplinary teams of students work side by side with Third Sector organizations, social enterprises, and volunteer associations to design and develop concrete solutions to real needs. The goal is to create a prototype, either digital or physical, built around the needs of the partner organization. The course concludes with a public presentation during an event organized with Fondazione Triulza, held in October at MIND (Milano Innovation District).
Developed projects
2025/2026 Edition – Collaboration with Comunità Fraternità
The 2025/2026 edition is developed with Cooperativa Comunità Fraternità and is dedicated to the design and implementation of an educational video game to support work on emotional, relational, and behavioral aspects, which can be integrated into both individual and group activities led by care professionals.

2024/2025 Edition – Collaboration with COOSS Marche
With Cooperativa COOSS Marche, students worked on Intellica, a web platform featuring a digital “Cognitive Gym” with customizable exercises to stimulate and maintain cognitive functions and support autonomy. They developed three prototypes of new features to support operators and caregivers:
- Smart Intellica: dynamic generation and updating of exercise sets, with a data analysis area
- Quick access via icon: direct connection to the exercise set from the desktop
- Image upload via QR code: simplified uploading of multiple images from a camera or photo library

2023/2024 Edition – Collaboration with Cooperativa Eureka! and Residenze del Sole
La casa di Roby (with Cooperativa Eureka!): a digital platform that promotes the autonomy of young people with cognitive disabilities through an accessible app with an AI-based avatar, support for managing daily activities (appointments, hygiene, shopping, time, and money), and a dashboard for educators.

Invenzio (with RSA Residenze del Sole): an interactive digital totem integrated into the residence’s garden, featuring personalized profiles (including facial recognition), games and stimulation activities, tailored content, tools for communication with family members, and an operator portal for monitoring and personalization (Individualized Care Plan).
